The Community Foundation of Northeast Alabama recently announced the distribution of $60,100 in grants from two funds of the foundation, the Susie Parker Stringfellow Health Fund and the Foothills Community Partnership Charitable Fund.

Area not-for profit organizations receiving grant awards from the Susie Parker Stringfellow Health Fund include Ambucs Greater Birmingham Chapter to purchase AmTrykes for disabled children in Calhoun County; United Cerebral Palsy of East Central Alabama to purchase equipment and supplies for a new outpatient therapeutic clinic; Focus First and Alabama Student Initiative to conduct vision screenings and purchase screening equipment for Calhoun County students; Calhoun County Commission in collaboration with the County Extension to hire nutrition educators for Calhoun County schools; Coosa Riverkeeper program to support testing and sampling of the rivers running through Calhoun County as well as staff training; YMCA of Calhoun County to provide an after-school health and exercise program in Anniston and Calhoun County schools; Calhoun County Retired Senior Volunteer program to purchase supplies to assist senior citizens needing assistance with tax returns.

Grants from the Foothills Community Partnership Charitable fund will provide support to the Piedmont Benevolence Center to assist with the construction of an addition to its food bank and the Public Education Foundation of Anniston to implement the Kevin Thompson Teacher project to encourage students to pursue a degree in education.
