Group of senators propose legislative pay cut to match budget cuts

Instead of repealing a controver­sial legislative pay increase, a bi­partisan group of state senators said Tuesday that it will support a resolution that, beginning next year, would cut the pay of state leg­islators equal to the level of budget cuts declared by the governor.

But some Republicans who criti­cized a 2007 pay raise that lawmak­ers voted for themselves do not be­lieve the resolution goes far enough.
