In Alabama, who you know or where you come from often is a big deal. Mary Scott Hunter, a state Board of Education member from Huntsville, may decide to test that theory in Alabama's next gubernatorial election.

Hunter, a Republican, is considering entering the GOP primary for governor. She's also the daughter of Scott Hunter, the former University of Alabama and NFL quarterback who spent time as a television sports anchor in Mobile.

It's way too early to give much thought to Hunter's chances of beating Gov. Robert Bentley in the GOP primary. Nevertheless, she's given us a reason to look back on a few moments of her famous father's career in the spotlight.
