The Washington Post is out with a big scoop today: "Bazooka Joe is 60 years old."

What's Joe been up to lately? The New Republic had the latest in this Dec. 7, 2012, article. (A day that will live in bubble gum infamy.)

"Next month, Bazooka Joe Comics, the colorful gag strips printed on wax paper that have been packaged with every piece of Bazooka Bubble Gum for 58 years, are being replaced with brain teasers. 'Instead of a cheesy joke,' Anthony Trani, Bazooka Candy Brands’ vice president of marketing, told The New York Times, 'we wanted to have a fun, engaging activity for kids' that would ultimately, he later said, 'make the brand relevant again.' "

What so wrong about a cheesy joke, especially when it comes with chewing gum?
