Too often we select our civic leaders based on their appearance or the fine sentiments they espouse. Any thinking person in Anniston wants prosperity and good will toward their fellow citizens. But then there are the creative few who actually identify a pathway to achieve those goals. These people are the doers.

The race for the Ward 4 seat on the City Council is between several fine people; however, Millie Harris is the only candidate who has not only identified what needs to be done to improve Anniston but, most important, how to get it done.

I have known Millie Harris for almost 30 years. She is a doer. In achieving goals, she will seek constituent involvement and peer consensus. She will identify a path toward success and advocate that path until it is accepted by her peers and accomplished. The question is whether Anniston will be better off with a City Council that simply espouses high goals or a City Council that actually succeeds over time in accomplishing its goals.

The answer we all prefer depends upon doers like Millie Harris.
