We will have our annual Veterans Day ceremony at 11 a.m. Friday at Centennial Memorial Park in Anniston.

We will have great music and patriotic events such as the Fallen Comrade ceremony, as well as the 21-gun salute.

This year we have a group of young Marines assisting. After the ceremony, we will have a flag-retiring service in the park at 5:30 p.m. We will be burning unserviceable American flags with the assistance of the young Marines. The first flag to be introduced to the fire will be respectfully placed by Marti Warren. Warren and her fellow Kiwanians will assist in the burning of the unserviceable American flags.

While this is a day to honor veterans, please join us for an hour to pay tribute to those who never made it to veteran status. In the park are the names of more than 10,000 Alabamians who gave their lives defending freedom around the world.
