The House of Representatives recently presented the Girl Scouts of North-Central Alabama and the Girl Scouts of Southern Alabama with a proclamation recognizing 100 years of building girls of courage, confidence of character. The proclamation also declares 2012 as the Year of the Girl, and recognized the Girl Scouts for their work in advocating for girls involvement in science and technology fields.

The proclamation was presented by Representative Terri Collins and Representative Jami Ison, co-chairs of Troop 1912. Troop 1912 was established in 2011 by GSNCA and GSSA as the voice for girls in legislature.
