The point-after, which followed an 11-yard touchdown run from Camron Bryant, gave Jacksonville Christian the 7-6 win in a game that ended around 12:35 a.m. Saturday.
Vina scored on an 89-yard punt return by Adam Pharr with 6:35 to play in the in the third quarter. However, a host of Thunder players, including Dakota Crook and Dillon Mason, blocked the extra-point attempt.
Quarterback Matt Crook led JCA with 49 yards rushing on 15 carries in a game in which both teams accounted for just 331 yards of offense combined. The Thunder went for 159 while the Red Devils had 172.
Bryant finished with 36 yards on eight carries and McGuffie added 32 yards on five touches.
JCA hosts Parkway Christian when Class 1A, Region 6 play picks up again Friday.
