There is some sentiment for “throw all the bums out,” but that idea would be totally against the best interests of Anniston. Voters need to keep in mind that Anniston has made progress in spite of some council members doing all they could to undermine Mayor Gene Robinson. There are some very nice people trying to unseat Robinson, but it is very likely none of them could have even come close to doing the job he has done. The City Council may change some, but it will probably not change enough for someone to serve as mayor who would be able to deal with the hard-headed, obstinate council members Robinson had to deal with, and who will most likely be back.
Gene Robinson is experienced, tough and able to do what the job calls for. He has demonstrated the capability of being effective in spite of others trying to run him off. Voters in Anniston need to put their vote for what is best for the city, and that is re-elect Gene Robinson.
