Local trio land spots in July's North-South All-Star hoops games

Three players with local ties have accepted invitations to play in the North-South All-Star basketball games.

The contest will be part of the 17 th All-Star Sports Week, which will be July 15-20 in Montgomery.

Anniston 6-foot-2 forward Quanetria Bolton made the North girls squad along with Woodland’s Leah Strain, a 5-4 point guard.

Weaver’s Chris English made the North boys team.

Bolton averaged 23 points, 13 rebounds and four blocks a game while leading Anniston to a 28-5 season and the Northeast Regional. Strain averaged 21.5 points, 5.2 assists and 7.0 rebounds as Woodland won the Class 2A state championship.

English paced Weaver to the Northeast Regional, averaging 23.6 points, 6.4 rebounds and 3.4 steals a game.
