This year's BCS National Championship Game won't have Nick Saban (unless ESPN hires him for pregame commentary), but the title contest will have his thumbprint.

It's interesting to note how many on the Florida State staff have to Saban, who is completing his seventh season at Alabama.

Of course, there's FSU head coach Jimbo Fisher, who coached at LSU under Saban during 2000-04. Defensive coordinator Jeremy Pruitt worked on Saban's staff at Alabama during 2007-2012, helping win three national titles.

Offensive line coach Rick Trickett served as assistant head coach for Saban at LSU in 2000. He also was in charge of the line.

Receivers coach Lawrence Dawsey was a graduate assistant at LSU for Saban's 2003 national champions. Defensive ends coach Sal Sunseri coached linebackers for Saban at Alabama in 2009-11 and linebackers and special teams for Saban at LSU in 2000. Strength and conditioning coach Vic Viloria was an assistant strength and conditioning coach at LSU in 2004.

It's worth pointing out there are a couple of Auburn connections on the FSU staff as well. Charles Kelly, a special teams coordinator and linebackers coach, played at Auburn in the late 1980s under Pat Dye. He was a graduate assistant on Terry Bowden's 1993 undefeated team. In addition, he was a Jacksonville State assistant coach during 1994-98.

Fisher is a former Auburn assistant coach during 1993-98 under Terry Bowden. Fisher was a quarterback at Salem College under Bowden before transferring to Samford to continue playing under him. Fisher remained as a Samford assistant during 1988-92.

Fisher also coached under Terry's father, Bobby Bowden, at FSU during 2007-09 before gaining a promotion to head coach in 2010.
