State Sen. Del Marsh, R-Anniston, will seek another term in 2014, his spokesman acknowledged Thursday.

“He is seeking re-election,” said Derek Trotter, an aide to the senator. Asked if the senator would hold a large campaign launch event at some point in the future, Trotter said that’s often not done by incumbents.

Marsh has been in the Senate since 1998. Since 2010, he has served as the president pro tem. The Republican primary is nearly a year away. No primary opponents for Marsh have emerged so far in the race.

No Democratic candidates for the seat have announced yet, said Alabama Democratic Party chairwoman Nancy Worley. Marsh will face a Democratic opponent in 2014, Worley said.
