JACKSONVILLE — Jeffery Hodge’s 15-foot jumper with 39 seconds left in overtime was the difference as Center Point beat Ramsay 41-39 in today's Northeast Regional Class 5A boys final in Jacksonville State University’s Pete Mathews Coliseum.

Ramsay had two chances to tie or win, but Brinston Story lost control of the ball out of bounds while trying to drive, and Jonathan Ethridge missed a 3-point try.

Center Point (24-7) will play South Regional winner Faith Academy in the Class 5A semifinals Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at the BJCC Arena.

Ramsay’s Matthew Brewer hit a jumper with 1:52 left in regulation to tie the game at 37, and that score stood into overtime.

Story had a chance to win the game in regulation after stealing the ball from Darreyl Purnell, but Purnell blocked his driving shot with 54 seconds left. Center Point held the ball for one shot, and Hodge missed a jumper.

Hodge led Center Point with 14 points, and Traveon Davis added 11. Story scored a game-high 16 points, and Chris Riley added 11.
