Anniston police charged a local man with allegedly choking his 15-year-old stepson Thursday afternoon.

Larry Williams, 51, of Anniston was arrested at a home on the 4800 block of Angel Boulevard at 3:47 p.m. and charged with felony domestic violence.

Lt. Fred Forsythe said police were called to the home by the mother of the victim. Forsythe said the victim and Williams were having an argument when Williams grabbed his stepson around the throat and began choking him.

Forsythe said responding officers reported the victim having minor injuries. The victim did not receive medical treatment while police were at the home, the lieutenant said.

“Through investigation (officers) had enough evidence to believe Williams did choke him,” Forsythe said.

Williams was arrested at the scene and was being held at the Anniston City Jail as of Friday morning, police said.

A police report states Williams’ bond and court date have yet to be scheduled.
