A landlord was reportedly assaulted Thursday by a tenant after serving an eviction notice, according to Anniston police.

Anniston police Capt. Allen George said a 47-year-old woman was assaulted Thursday afternoon at a home she owns on the 3500 block of Truman Avenue. George said the woman went to the home to give an eviction notice to the tenant.

The two “ended up in a scuffle,” George said, and the woman was pushed. The captain said the victim fell and broke her wrist. She was taken to Regional Medical Center for treatment, George said.

Police were still investigating the incident Friday afternoon, George said.

A suspect could face second-degree assault charges, a felony, according to a police report.
