Anniston police say a man arrested on domestic violence charges early this morning cut his younger brother with a razor.

Anniston police Capt. Allen George said Fred Lee Duncan Jr., 61, of Anniston, and his 53-year-old brother got into an argument over an unknown issue around midnight. George said the two men were on the 2600 block of McKleroy Avenue when the argument escalated.

During the argument, George said, Duncan cut his brother’s face with a razor. The cut started on the man’s left ear and ended at his collarbone, the captain said. The razor severed the victim’s temporal artery, George said, causing the man to lose a large amount of blood. He was taken to Stringfellow Memorial Hospital for treatment and is expected to recover from his injury.

Police charged Duncan with felony first-degree domestic violence shortly after the incident. Duncan was drunk during his arrest, according to a police report.

Duncan was in the Calhoun County Jail this afternoon. Bond is set at $60,000. A court appearance is scheduled for Aug. 12.
