Police say an Anniston woman who was arrested on three separate felony charges Monday attempted to conceal drugs from an officer as she was being arrested.

Hedda Louise White, 36, faces charges of second-degree theft of lost property, possession of a controlled substance and promoting prison contraband, all felonies, according to warrants for her arrest and police reports.

According to Anniston police Capt. Allen George, White was pulled over for a traffic violation at the corner of Front Street and Sawyer Street on Monday night. During the stop, officers checked her license against a database and discovered that a warrant had been issued for her arrest in August.

According to a warrant for White’s arrest, White took property known to have been lost or mislaid from a man in July.

The captain said that while White was working at a McDonald’s on McClellan Boulevard on July 20, a customer left his wallet on the counter. The wallet contained debit cards, credit cards and $600 in cash, but when the customer returned to the store, employees told him they had not found his wallet, George said.

The captain said when investigators and employees reviewed surveillance footage, they saw White had taken the wallet. The investigator questioned White about the incident but White denied taking the wallet, George said.

According to George, as the officer was booking White on the arrest warrant Monday night, she tried to conceal a bag containing what the officer believed to be crack cocaine from him by tucking it into her shirt, George said.

White was released on a combined $10,000 bond Tuesday, according to jail workers. She is to appear in court on Dec. 19.
