I have known Mike Almaroad, a candidate for the Calhoun County Board of Education, for more than 35 years. I know it is sometimes difficult to make voting decisions if not personally acquainted with the candidates, so I wanted to share my knowledge of Mike and his family.

Mike is a dedicated family man who is active in his community. Five generations of his family have attended Calhoun County schools, including him, his wife Beverly, their three sons and their grandchildren. He has served on the Calhoun County BOE for 24 years, so he brings experience to the job, especially in the areas of budgeting and finance that are so important in this current era of budget concerns. Mike’s wife is a retired teacher, so he has perspective from a teacher’s viewpoint, as well as from a parent’s, along with his extensive experience serving on the board.

I do not know of anyone better qualified to continue the work of the board, or anyone more willing to go the extra mile to see that all Calhoun County children achieve their maximum potential.
