Even though I don’t live in Jefferson County, I can’t help but be frustrated about the debt that the county commissioners are trying to pass along to their customers.

This is not a fault of the paying customers but an injustice brought upon them by the commission. What if the same situation happens in our county?

Just because they are elected does not give them a way out of what they have caused.

How long do the taxpaying people have to pay for the errors of the elected folks while they walk away free? I guess it shows that once politicians are elected and do wrong, they know that the taxpayers will have to pay for the mistakes they make.

How long should we pay for their shortcomings while they are not held accountable? Just because we vote them in doesn’t give them the right to pass costs on us while they walk away.

People need to wake up and realize that even though we vote them into office, we have the right to remove them.

Let the taxpayers refuse to pay and see how many people are willing to forgive their indiscretions.

This is not what our country was founded upon, but we all complain, and until we join together to change this, it will always be this way. Our elected officials have already figured this out and will promise the world, but they don’t have to do anything to change the status quo.

Let them live the way of life that we have to live and see how quick things change.
