I recently sat at the base of the state Capitol steps and listened to the speeches of former Chief Justice Roy Moore, several ministers from across Alabama and one firecracker lady circuit judge for over an hour. Their words centered on same-sex marriage and abortion and bringing God’s law into dealing with social issues in Alabama.

As I looked up at the beautiful Capitol building propped up against an unbelievable blue sky, I thought how blessed I was to have this freedom to experience what I did that morning.

I thought I was attending a political rally for candidate Roy Moore but something else unfolded in front of my eyes. I did not know those other people of faith who spoke against these dangers to our country and state but I do know a lot about Moore and who he really is. I understand what he is trying to do for me in this state where I have always lived.

I saw Moore on those steps that morning standing up for Jesus. I will know he is the one on Nov. 6.
