Re “Cyclist rescued from trail” (News article, Aug. 19):

On Saturday, Aug. 18, our daughter, Haley Gregg, was injured while mountain biking on the Coldwater Mountain Bike Trail. Due to her injury, rescue personnel were required to locate her at the accident site, assess and stabilize her injury and determine the safest and quickest route down the mountain to an ambulance for transport to Regional Medical Center.

The Anniston and Oxford fire departments and emergency medical services were very professional and worked tirelessly and without hesitation in the rescue effort. Their care and support for Haley and the family during those five long hours was greatly appreciated.

We would like to thank Haley’s riding partner, Julie Willingham, and trail director, Preston York, for contacting 911 and caring for Haley while awaiting the arrival of rescue personnel. Also, thanks to Donny and Penny Minton for their support and assistance during the rescue.

A very special thank you to orthopedic surgeon Kenneth Vandervoort and orthopedic nurses Brenda and Tracy for their excellent care and compassion shown to Haley during her surgery and hospital stay.

We will always remember the support and compassion shown from all involved.

Ronald and Judith Gregg
