On a recent morning, our neighbor’s home was on fire. Knowing there was no one at home due to illness, 911 had been called. We checked on their outside animals to make sure they were safe. As we finished, the Webster’s Chapel Volunteer Fire Department arrived and started to fight the fire. The Big Oak Volunteer Fire Department and the Alexandria Volunteer Fire Department were also called for assistance with their tankers and extra personnel. Unfortunately, even after the fire departments’ gallant effort, the house was a total loss.
On behalf of our neighbors who lost their home, we would like to express our gratitude to the fire departments who responded, especially Webster’s Chapel. Remember, the personnel who man these departments are volunteers made up of neighbors and friends. A special thank you to Barbara Pritchett for taking the time to stop and help. Also, thank you to Ashley Drury, Pleasant Valley High School and the FCCLA chapter for providing food for this family and many others.
