Once upon a time, there was a rancher who owned a large open ranch. The man’s name was Joe Malone and he had a daughter named Carol. She was the most beautiful lady in town. Joe was fifty-eight and Carol was twenty-seven years old. They moved toKansas where managing a ranch was easy.

Then one day Carol was checking the animals; the pigs, the horses, the chickens and the cows. But while she was checking the cows she realized five of the five hundred they had were missing. So she checked the whole ranch, and while she was looking in the pasture she spotted an enormous footprint! She screamed, “Dad come quick,” as loud as she could. Joe came in his red pickup truck and asked, “What’s wrong.” She pointed at the footprint, then they got in the truck and drove home. Every day after that the cows kept disappearing.

So, one day Joe set out to find the beast at dawn. He took a rifle and plenty of bullets. As he ventured into the dark and gloomy woods, he noticed large footprints leading to a gigantic hole in the ground. He didn’t notice Carol following slowly behind him, so … he jumped. As Carol watched him fall, all she heard was gunshots and a loud growl. Then the beast jumped out of the hole and dragged Carol in. No one ever saw them again.
