It all started when I was walking my dog, and we passed the old Campbell house. I thought I saw an eye in the window. At first I looked away, thinking it was just the sun. I looked again, and saw a woman, in a Victorian-style gray dress, looking straight at me. I blinked, and there was no one there.

I ran home, almost strangling my dog when he wanted to sniff some grass. Then I asked my mom if anyone had moved into the Campbell house. She told me that, to her knowledge, no one had been in the house since 1876, when Jessamine Campbell mysteriously died. No one knew she was dead until 6 months later, when the milkman got suspicious of the many milk bottles left at the door. People didn’t really care. Many died in the Civil War. She was buried in her backyard, but with no tombstone.

I wondered if I saw the spirit of Jessamine Campbell that day. The next day, I walked past the old mansion. I caught a glimpse of the lady, but no more. It was like that every day. When I tried to look again, there was no one there.

My mom came with me the next time we walked. When we got to the Campbell house, I hesitantly waved to the woman. My mom looked at me like I belonged in a mental institution. I must’ve been the only one that could see her. This made me feel crazy.

I needed to know what the spirit wanted, so I bought a Ouija board. It could give me answers, right? I hid it from my mom, she would freak out if she saw an object used to communicate with spirits. I lit a candle, then opened the box, and inside found the board and planchette. I put my finger on it. It moved to HELLO. “Are you the woman in the gray dress?”, I asked. The planchette moved to YES. “What do you want?” , I asked. There was no response, so I asked again. The planchette started moving very fast, so fast I could barely keep up. It spelled out ‘TOGET REVENGE’. The last thing I remember was blacking out.

An Excerpt from the Milford Times

Girl dies in fire

13 year old Pandora Reid was declared dead on July 22nd. The fireman rescued her parents and two siblings, but when they went into Pandora’s room, there was no one there. It wasn’t until later that they found her body under the bed. Candles were found in Pandora’s room. Further investigations will be conducted. Pandora’s funeral will be on August 3rd, at the Grace Baptist Church.

2 blocks away, the ghost of Jessamine Campbell smiled for the first time in over 100 years, happy to have killed the a descendent of Lucian Reid, the man that murdered her. Maybe now she could finally rest in peace.
