Two local radio stations given ABBY awards

Two Calhoun County radio stations were recently given best in broadcasting (ABBY) awards from the Alabama Broadcasters Association.

WFXO 105.9 and WVOK 97.9 were given five out of 11 awards for small-market radio stations at the annual ABA Best in Broadcasting Awards banquet, held March 26 in Birmingham.

105.9 won awards for Best Small Market Public Service Announcement (“Anniston Museum of Natural History”), Small Market Promotion (“Dale Jr Go Kart Race”) and Small Market Website (www.rock1059.net) and 97.9 won awards for Best Small Market Personality or Team (“Steve Stevens”) and Small Market Morning Show (“Steve and Julie Morning Show.”)
