Christopher Shawn Reaves, 38, of Oxford was arrested and charged with 10 counts of breaking and entering an automobile.
A rash of car break-ins on Gloria Lane, Sherry Street and Hillcrest Drive led Weaver police to send out a press release early Thursday morning with a warning to residents not to leave valuables in their cars. The release said the break-ins happened between midnight and 5 a.m.
Calhoun County deputies assisting with the investigation found a fingerprint in a car and checked the print through the Automated Fingerprint Identification System, a new database available at the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office, police said. The system linked the print to Reaves, according to a Weaver police press release.
Police found Reaves at a relative’s home on Stewart Street, and a search of the home turned up items that had been stolen from the cars, the Weaver release states.
Reaves was being held at the Calhoun County Jail as of Thursday evening.
