Well, I read in The Star that the old Anniston City Land Co. building is being demolished. Just another part of our history gone.
I moved to Anniston as a teenager, when Quintard Avenue was lined with beautiful homes, well-groomed lawns and shrubs. Now all I see are service stations and fast-food places.
I laugh every time I come north and see the big sign reading, “Welcome to Historic Downtown Anniston.”
Where’s the history? It’s all been torn down.
