Winn-Dixie reports loss in its second quarter

Winn-Dixie Stores Inc. said Monday it lost $24 million, or 43 cents per share, in the 16 weeks that ended Jan. 12. That compares to profit of $2.1 million, or 4 cents a share, in the 16 weeks that ended Jan. 6, 2010. 

Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters had expected a 28-cent loss, on average.
