TUSCALOOSA -- We spotlighted running back T.J. Yeldon on Tuesday, so today we're going to look at another Alabama star who had a breakout season as a true freshman in 2012.

Wide receiver Amari Cooper didn't explode out of the gate like Yeldon, but gained steam as the season went on.

Cooper received more playing time when DeAndrew White went down with a knee injury.

He became a household name against Ole Miss when he caught eight passes for 84 yards and two touchdowns. And as they say, the rest was history.

He had 100 plus receiving yards in five of the Tide's final eight games.

He finished the season with 59 receptions and 1000 yards, both freshmen records. He also broke the school record with 11 receiving touchdowns.

TUSCALOOSA -- Alabama running back T.J. Yeldon put his stamp on the Crimson Tide's program from day one.

Yeldon, a Daphne, Ala. native, became the first Alabama freshman to rush for 100 yards in their debut when he gained 111 yards and scored a touchdown in the 2012 season opener versus Michigan.

Yeldon rushed for 1108 yards and 12 touchdowns as a true freshman, including five games of 100 plus yards.

This season, he'll be the Tide's No. 1 tailback and is expected to do great things. He's a preseason All-American and was featured on the cover of Sports Illustrated.

TUSCALOOSA -- When quarterback AJ McCarron decided to return for his senior season, Alabama's chances of winning a third consecutive national championship increased significantly.

McCarron, a fifth-year senior, gives the Crimson Tide stability on offense with his playmaking ability and leadership.

Last season, McCarron tossed 30 touchdowns to only 3 interceptions. He racked up 2933 yards and was the nation's most efficient passer, completing 67.2 percent of his throws.

For his career, McCarron has passed for 5956 yards, 49 touchdowns and thrown only eight interceptions.

McCarron is 25-2 as a starter with two BCS national championships.

With all the weapons he'll have, McCarron could become the first Alabama quarterback to pass for 3,000 yards.

Today, we're going to take a look at some of AJ McCarron's top plays. The Mobile native has made a lot of big plays throughout his career so it would be tough to include each one.

TUSCALOOSA -- The sun decided to come out just as reporters were entering practice. The college football season is just seven days away from kicking off.

Here are some takeaways:

--Freshman running back Alvin Kamara (knee) participated in drills. Kamara still wore a black, non-contact jersey and is probably a week or so away from any contact.

--Trey DePriest shadowed Tana Patrick when Alabama worked on its nickel defense. Tide coach Nick Saban said DePriest would have to work his way back up the depth chart.

--Nose tackles Brandon Ivory (knee) and Darren Lake split reps with the first group of defensive linemen. Ivory is still recovering from twisting his knee in Saturday's scrimmage.

--Ed Stinson and Jeoffrey Pagan are the first team defensive ends.

--Dee Hart works as the second running back. Kenyan Drake runs through drills as the No. 3 running back.

--Ryan Kelly (center), Anthony Steen (right guard), Austin Shepherd (right tackle), Cyrus Kouandjio (left tackle) and Arie Kouandjio (left guard) continued to work as the first team offensive line. Being this late in the preseason, this could be the group that takes the field in the opener versus Virginia Tech.

Up next: Coach Nick Saban and players will speak to reporters around 6 p.m.
