TUSCALOOSA -- As expected, Alabama sat atop the initial Bowl Championship Series standings.

The Crimson Tide (7-0, 4-0 SEC) is No. 1 in both of the human polls, the USA Today Coaches poll and the Harris Interactive poll, which make up two-thirds of the BCS standings.

There was one surprise as Florida State came in at No. 2 with Oregon at No. 3. Oregon is ranked No. 2 in both the coaches poll and the AP poll.

The Seminoles are coming off a 51-14 thrashing of Clemson in Death Valley.

Ohio State and Missouri round out the top five.

BCS Top five

1. Alabama (.984)

2. Florida State (.935)

3. Oregon (.932)

4. Ohio State (.855)

5. Missouri (.822)
