Experts: Losing tanker contract blow for state

Economic development ex­perts said that losing the $35 billion government contract in Mobile is a blow for the en­tire state.

Ron Scott, executive direc­tor of the Economic Develop­ment Association of Alaba­ma, said that he hasn't been as disappointed as he was Thursday evening since Ger­man automaker Volkswagen announced in 2008 that it would build a plant in Ten­nessee, not Alabama.
