Florence man facing 800 child pornography counts asks for work release

A man facing more than 800 counts of child pornography has asked to serve on work release while awaiting trial.

Jim Engelthaler, attorney for Bryan Patrick Gist, made the request during a brief court hearing Wednesday. Engelthaler told Lauderdale Circuit Court Judge Mike Jones that Gist in unable to make the $50,000 bond he is being held under at the Lauderdale County Detention Center. He said Gist would like to be moved to work release so he can earn money to help care for his parents.
