Whitetail deer season in over, bringing with it an end of the fourth hunting season since the state began limiting the number of bucks that could be killed to three.

The limit was put in place to allow bucks to grow older, meaning they are likely to have larger racks of antlers. And chasing big bucks means big bucks in Alabama, where hunting generates an annual economic impact of about $840 million a year, ac­cording to the Alabama De­partment of Conservation and Natural Resources. Whitetail deer is the state's most popular game animal.
