One of Toomers Corner oaks at Auburn University campus damaged by fire
They serve as towering reminders of years gone by, while at the same time as welcoming landmarks to future generations of Auburn University students.
Both nearly went up in smoke early Sunday morning as one of the pair of Live oaks (sometimes also called evergreen oaks) marking the entrance to the AU campus was briefly set on fire.
