Riley signs PACT bill

Gov. Bob Riley this morning signed into law a plan that will pay a total of $547.6 million over 13 years from the state Education Trust Fund to subsidize the state's struggling Prepaid Affordable College Tuition program.

The Legislature last week passed the bill, Senate Bill 162, which was sponsored by Sen. Ted Little, D-Auburn. The plan would have died without Riley's signature.
