Learning Farm holds first meeting

The Learning Farm in Piedmont held its first board of directors meeting Jan. 22 at 230 North Center Ave. The farm will be the first certified organic learning farm in the state of Alabama. Its mission is to protect the local food source by empowering every member of the community with access to resources for production, preserving and preparation of safe healthy foods.

Officers who were elected by vote are Dave Clark, chairman; Ed Hanson, vice-chair; Mary Fagan, secretary and Roxanna Sims, treasurer, who is a non-voting board member. The public is invited to attend and participate in this regional wide farm to table project. The next meeting is planned for 5 p.m. March 26 at 230 North Center Ave. in Piedmont.
