Wellborn Elementary School and Cane Creek Community Gardens are two of the newest nationally certified Nature Explore Classrooms. Certified by the Arbor Day Foundation and Dimensions Educational Research Foundation, these two Calhoun County sites are just the second and third such certified classrooms in Alabama. Wellborn Elementary is the first certified Nature Explore Classroom in Alabama located at a school. Both certifications were recognized at the Calhoun County Commission meeting held in June.
