Jacksonville State ace Tiffany Harbin pitched another gem for the Gamecocks in the Ohio Valley Conference tournament. With Harbin picking up her third win and third complete game of the tournament, sixth-seeded JSU beat fourth-seeded Murray State 2-1, which put the Gamecocks into Sunday's championship round.

Jacksonville State's Travis Stout set a school record with his 16th save and Michael Bishop had a career-high four hits as the Gamecocks swept a key Ohio Valley Conference doubleheader at Eastern Kentucky on Saturday. JSU won the opener 9-4 and held on for a 10-9 win in the second game.

When Max Shortell decided it finally was time to get off the wild and confusing ride that was his first two years at Minnesota, nothing was more important than finding the perfect place to land. There were several suitors for a quarterback with 13 games of BCS experience, but it ultimately came down to where he and his gunslinger style fit best. That became Jacksonville State and once he completes the necessary paperwork, he’ll be on his way to becoming a Gamecock “for good.”

Tiffany Harbin pitched a five-hitter as Jacksonville State beat SIU Edwardsville 2-0 in an Ohio Valley Conference tournament game that stretched over two days. The game was suspended Thursday after two innings and was completed Friday. Harbin struck out 14 batters, and the five hits she gave up were all singles.

Rain didn't allow Jacksonville State's softball team to finish its game against SIU Edwardsville on Thursday. Playing in the second round of the Ohio Valley Conference tournament, JSU and SIU Edwardsville were tied 0-0 in the top of the third inning when lightning forced the teams from the field. The game was suspended and will be resumed Friday at 10 a.m.

Kelci Johnston homered and drove in three runs as Jacksonville State beat Eastern Kentucky 5-3 in its Ohio Valley Conference tournament opener Wednesday. The sixth-seeded Gamecocks (27-25) answered a three-run fourth from the third-seeded Colonels (34-19) with a three-run rally in the sixth and advanced into the winners' bracket of the eight-team double-elimination tournament. JSU will play Thursday at 12:30 p.m. against the winner of Wednesday's game between No. 2 SIU Edwardsville and No. 7 Tennessee Tech.

JACKSONVILLE – Auburn erased an eight-run deficit and scored 12 runs in the eighth inning as the Tigers claimed a 12-8 win over Jacksonville State to snap a two-game losing skid to the Gamecocks on Tuesday evening. The Tigers (28-19) sent 16 batters to the plate during the 12-run eighth inning as Dan Gilevenyank hit a pair of three-run home runs and Damek Tomscha added a two-run home run. The Gamecocks used five pitchers and threw 71 pitches during the inning. Jax State (27-22) jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the third inning after Coty Blanchard drove in two runs with a double and Paschal Petrongolo drove in two more runs to give the Gamecocks the early lead. The Gamecocks added a run in the fourth when Stephen Bartlett stole home, and Petrongolo had a RBI double in the fifth to give JSU a 6-0 lead. Jacksonville State added two more runs in the seventh inning after Eddie Mora-Loera drove in two runs with a single to right field as the Gamecocks built an 8-0 lead, before Auburn rallied in the eighth inning. Cullen Wacker had four hits, while Jordan Ebert, Tomscha and Glevenyak each finished with two hits to lead Auburn's 14-hit attack. Blanchard had his fourth career four-hit game.
Alexandria High grad wins all-conference softball honors for JSU

Jacksonville State sophomore Sara Borders made the All-Ohio Valley Conference softball first team Tuesday night. An outfielder and first baseman from Alexandria, Borders was a second-team selection last year as a freshman.
