Amtrak’s Crescent route between Atlanta and New Orleans, including the line’s stop at Anniston, will be interrupted beginning Monday through Feb. 17 due to tie, rail and bridge work along the route.

The trains will be running full routes on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays during those six weeks. However, passengers may face delays from freight train interference and lower speed limits when they do run.

Monday through Thursday, the trains will run south from New York to Atlanta and north from Atlanta to New York. Service between New Orleans and Atlanta will not be available on those days.

“It’s part of a planned annual project to continue to improve the track,” said Christina Leeds, media relations manager for Amtrak. “The continued track improvements will help improve Amtrak ride quality.”

For more information, passengers can visit Amtrak.com or call 1-800-872-7245.
