Re “Personal: To my critics” (H. Brandt Ayers column, Sept. 19):

It’s hilarious how this newspaper and the rest of the so-called mainstream media always blame tragedies, regardless of the facts, on the American right. Star Publisher H. Brandt Ayers said in his Sept. 19 column, “I’m an old school, just left-of-middle journalist who believes in facts.”

If that is true, H. Brandt Ayers, where are your facts that wacko nut job from Arizona ever listened to or even knew that Rush Limbaugh or Glenn Beck even existed? Before any reflection of what happened in Arizona, this newspaper and the liberal media blamed talk radio. I dare say that not one editor of this newspaper has ever listened to Limbaugh or Beck, for if you did you would know that Limbaugh and Beck use liberals’ own words to show just how out of touch progressive liberals are with the majority of this country.

It is not the right-of-center pundits or conservative politicians who are busting at the seams. It is the Democrats who are losing voters by the boatload. It is liberal newspapers and network news that are laying off longtime employees. Liberals are outnumbered, they’re losing the debate, they’re surrounded, and they know it. That’s why they’re lashing out. Their liberal agenda has been soundly rejected, and it smarts.

Whether you choose to believe it or not, the so-called “Genie is out of the bottle” and that so-called Genie is called the Heartland of America, something progressive liberal elitists know nothing about.

I’m not sure who said this, but it makes sense to me: “Whether an opinion be good or bad, it should be voiced. For if it is good, we should educate ourselves to adhere to its truth, and if it be evil, we should educate ourselves as to not practice its claims. Either way, we are far more ignorant for trying to prohibit said opinion.”

Like I said, Mr. Ayers, just the facts please.
