Anniston police Friday were investigating a case of arson at a home in the 2000 block of Winchester Road.

A fire began at the west Anniston house around 4 a.m. Thursday, and police and firefighters responded to the scene shortly after. A preliminary investigation indicated that the fire was started in multiple areas of the home, causing fire investigators to suspect that someone intentionally tried to burn it down.

The 43-year-old woman who lives at the house was not injured in the fire, police said.

Lt. Rocky Stemen said the arson may be related to a domestic dispute between the homeowner and a relative but declined to elaborate.

Investigators had few leads on suspects Friday, and the extent of the house damage was unclear.
