On Saturday, Aug. 6, Anniston really stood out. The running of the Woodstock 5K was a huge success. There were so many people from out of our area who were amazed by the run and our city.

The organizers of the run should be applauded. Dennis Dunn has worked countless hours to put this event on so successfully. The thanks have to start there. Thank you also to the many, many volunteers who came out to help make the run safe and fun for every participant. The citizens who lined the streets will never know what an inspiration they really are to the runners, so thanks to them as well.

Thanks also has to go to the city of Anniston. The route was clean and well patrolled for traffic. Thanks also to the Anniston High School teachers, faculty and students. The dinner on Friday night was a great way to see some of these students and the school. They were very accommodating. The football players, cheerleaders and band members who came out to cheer and play were fantastic. They really gave a boost to the runners at the perfect time.

This was such a win-win for our area that we should not neglect to thank the many who put it on. So once again, Dennis and all the above, thank you for a wonderful day and run.
