I am a member of the Anniston Runners Club, and I run several races throughout the year. A couple of weeks ago, I participated in the Fort McClellan Credit Union 5K Run at Janney Furnace in Ohatchee and was very impressed. The country atmosphere, the falling leaves and the beautiful day made it an extremely pleasant experience. Waffle House cooked up plenty of delicious smothered and covered potatoes, which provided a nice touch. I also loved the door prizes, even though I didn’t win one.

Registration for the race was in the Janney Museum, and I was surprised at how interesting the museum was. Calhoun County Commissioner Eli Henderson pointed out that the museum is free and open seven days a week.

I look forward to participating in this race again next year at Janney Furnace.
