The National Weather Service in Birmingham has issued a tornado watch for 24 counties in Alabama, including Calhoun, Cleburne, Clay and Randolph counties.
According to the Weather Service’s website, radars “indicated a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado” around 2:30 p.m. in Talladega County. The storm is heading in a northwest direction at 45 mph.
The warning for Talladega County indicates rain could conceal the tornado.
“Do not wait to see or hear the tornado,” the warning said. “Take cover now.”
