With almost all precincts in, Santorum leads Calhoun County

Early results from Calhoun County's primary vote show Rick Santorum leading among local voters in the GOP presidential primary.

With only provisional ballots left to count, Santorum had 5,697 votes in Calhoun County, about 35 percent. Newt Gingrich had 4,672 votes and Mitt Romney 4,371.

Calhoun County Circuit Court Judge Debra Jones had conceded to Appeals Court Judge Tommy Bryan in the statewide race for Alabama Supreme Court Place 1, but did win her home county. Jones had 4,873 votes to Bryan's 3,280.

In the race for Seventh Circuit Court Judge, Bud Turner appeared to have won with 9,933 votes to Ray Bryan's 8,276 votes. (Those totals include 16 of 17 Cleburne County boxes.)

In the Calhoun County District Judge race, Chris McIntyre appeared to have defeated incumbent Mannon Bankson with 7,631 votes, or just more than 55 percent. Bankson had 6,403 votes.

In the Circuit Clerk Republican primary, Eli Henderson emerged with an apparent victory over Tina Walker, with 7,596 votes, or 51.6 percent of the total. Walker had 7,124 votes.

Among Calhoun County school board candidates, Mike Almaroad, Debbie Hess, Jeff Winn, Phil Murphy, Tobi Burt, David Gilmore and Dale Harbin will represent Republicans on the ballot in the fall for the seven Calhoun County Board of Education seats. The full school board results are as follows:
