Applebee’s Neighborhood Grill & Bar in Oxford reopened this month after a few days of downtime to a newly renovated and decorated dining room and bar. “We opened up the dining room and bar area,” said general manager Daniel Gibson. “The bar is bigger, but the main seating area is about the same size.”

The restaurant’s interior was repainted and decorated with murals representing local icons — such as racecars at the Talladega 500, framed photographs of sporting events, a sign spelling out O-X-F-O-R-D, and a wall hanging of an historical shot of Anniston.

“We like to make connections to our guests,” said Gibson, “as opposed to making them feel as if they are at some place where they have never been.”
