Re “Serving size: Like rest of us, cops find it hard to protect themselves from weight gain” (News article, April 15):

I read The Star’s front-page article, “Serving size,” with a great deal of mixed emotion.

It is extremely difficult in law enforcement to have a proper diet and adequate rest. That said, there are literally dozens of veteran law enforcement officers in Calhoun County who take pride in their appearance and personal fitness.

I believe The Star’s article painted a broad stroke in a less-than-flattering way and made it appear that most in law enforcement are unprepared and unmotivated.

I believe equal voice should be given to those who serve and take pride every day in how they present themselves and how they prepare for a risky-yet-rewarding career.
