Do we really need to go down this road again? Strange encouraged state representatives to support HB414, a bill to change the law on possession of bingo machines from misdemeanor to felony charges, and he recently created the Public Corruption and White Collar Crime Division which, in my opinion, is a recreation of the anti-gambling task force.
Rather than stating opinions on what they believe to be legal or illegal, why don’t they demand the courts to determine the legality of the machines once and for all? Better yet, create a bill that would let the people of the state vote up or down on gambling in Alabama.
Newspapers have said the governor has no objection to bingo “if they’re legal and voted on by the people.” This nonsense game being played out in our government needs to stop.
