Memorial services for the nine Calhoun County victims of the April 27, 2011 storms will be held throughout the weekend.

Events will begin with a candlelight vigil at 6:30 p.m. Friday at First Baptist Church of Williams on Nisbet Lake Road near Jacksonville. Memorial plaques for the victims will be placed in the church’s memory garden, according to an announcement from the Calhoun County Emergency Management Agency.

Calhoun County officials will hold a memorial service for storm victims from Webster’s Chapel and Knighten’s Crossroads Saturday from 4-6 p.m. at Foggy Hollow on Ross Lake Road.

A second county memorial service, for storm victims from Ohatchee and Big Oak, will be held Sunday from 2-4 p.m. at Janney Furnace.

Also on Sunday, First Baptist Church of Williams will host an afternoon of events. At 1:30 p.m., participants in a charity motorcycle ride will arrive to present a donation to the rebuilding effort. At 3 p.m., a memorial service will be held in the church sanctuary. At 4 p.m., the church will hold a “celebration of recovery,” with music, games and picnic food.
