When the medical lobby couldn’t simply and quickly kill this bill as it has done since 2003, it drafted impossible amendments. Women have a right to home-births with midwives. Women deserve freedom. Did I sacrifice my right leg in vain? The Slade Blackwell and Gerald Dial amendments appear to me to be dirty political moves by the medical lobby to stamp out maternity care competition. The amendments’ true intentions aren’t about safety, education or liability protection as pitched to committee members.
At least a soldier can look his enemy in the eye. The Medical Association of Alabama has used trickery against our elected senators. Senators, be men and fix the mistake.
